Lady Bucs Volleyball Win First Conference Game

The Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College travelled to face the Lady Lumberjacks of Dakota College Bottineau on Wednesday, August 29th. The Lady Bucs came out with a 3-0 win in their first conference game. With this win they improved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. In the first set, the 

Lady Bucs came out and took a commanding lead and never looked back as they won 25-11. The second set posed a couple of problems for DCC as they missed 5 serves and the Jacks took advantage of the errors, but the home team could not seal the deal as the Lady Bucs pulled away late in the set for a 25-22 win to go up 2-0. With the Lady Bucs in the driver’s seat going into the third set, they just kept the pedal to the metal ending the match with a 25-15 win and a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Lumberjacks. 

The Bucs were led by Shayna Baugh with 10 kills followed closely behind by the other middle hitter Lexi Begger with 7 and Mara Johnson with 7. Kylee Stump and Samantha Youngman led in assists with 14 each. Erin Campbell led the team with 3 aces to along with her 13 kills. Baugh racked up 7.5 blocks to help with the win over the Lumberjacks. Dawson will be back at it again traveling to Sheridan, Wyoming to play in a tournament August 31-September 1. 

During this tournament, the Bucs will face NJCAA DI schools Northwest College and Sheridan College along with in-state rivals Miles Community College. 

Dawson’s first home game will be against Bismarck State College on September 12th at 7pm.
